TECHNICAL DATA

Technical Brain is an audio laboratory which was established in 1979. At that time, they first developed and sold noise cut-off transformers for power supplies to the commercial component market. Afterwards, they introduced a consumer version of their noise cut transformer which is highly sought after by audiophiles.

Over the course of the following fourteen years they began to develop their own original hi-end audio amplifier, and released the monaural power amplifier TBP-Zero in 2004. It adopts very unique technology and has garnered wide audiophile support in Japan. A great number of audiophiles in Japan are attracted to TBP-Zero, because it improves the S/N ratio in an acoustic sense, even if it is used with other existing preamplifiers.

Users of TBP-Zero then had been longing for the development of a preamplifier that can use the ability of the TBP power amplifier to its full extent.

Subsequently, Technical Brain released the awaited TBC-Zero preamp in 2005. Now in September of 2006, the TEQ phono stage preamp will be released which completes the current Technical Brain Amplifier series.

TBP-Zero is a fully balanced DC power amplifier from input to output. The output section is a balanced structure: it uses the two power amplifiers with Darlington SEPP circuits; they have four bipolar power elements working in parallel. The rated output in class A operation is 200W (8_) by increasing the idle current. The power supply section is strong, and it has a flat and smooth condenser of large capacity with a 1200VA power transformer. The transformers are large EI-core type with low flux density, and rectangular wiring. The transformer completely avoids electromagnetic oscillation. The TBP-Zero removes the emitter resistance in output elements and in the output block relay. It passes the output power straight to the speaker. The purity of signal is then achieved. The protection circuit is newly developed for the amps security. This circuit watches output waveforms at all times, and when trouble occurs, it cuts off the power source immediately.

The preamplifier TBC-Zero was developed with the same design concept as the TBP-Zero power amp. It is a fully balanced amplifier with line only inputs. Its theme is the transmission and amplification of audio signals without any coloring whatsoever. Its structure is simple in that it omits all unnecessary operations. The high-accuracy volume control creates the shortest path from input to output. It is controlled by the volume knob on the front panel through a gear belt. The volume control uses super high-quality parts manufactured by Tokyo Ko-on Denpa that are used for commercial mixing boards.

Mr. Kurosawa has also developed a series of noise cut-off transformers, from the basic units to the high end models also known as the AVR Regulators. He created it using the same know-how he brings to his acclaimed line of amps. Their purpose is to eliminate the negative influence on sound other household appliances (such as air conditioners and refrigerators) can have on the purity of the audio experience.

The AVR series are the ultimate power supply devices. These are automatic voltage regulators... In addition to the effect of reducing wide-band noise, which noise-cut off transformers have, it also works as a stabilized power supply. It protects your audio equipment from various obstacles and inconsistencies caused by asymmetric waveforms.
